AWS Partners Are Enthusiastic About Validating Their Solutions with AWS Outposts
By Alayna Broderson, Sr. Partner Business Development Manager at AWS
A year ago at AWS re:Invent 2019, we launched AWS Outposts, a fully managed service that offers the same Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, APIs, tools, and services to virtually any data center, co-location space, or on-premises facility for a truly consistent hybrid experience.
Since then, customers in many verticals—from Financial Services and Media & Entertainment to Industrial Automation and Healthcare & Life Sciences—have migrated workloads to AWS Outposts that are latency-sensitive, or require local data processing or data residency.
For some customers, migrating to the cloud is not an “all-or-nothing” decision. As organizations continue to adopt a hybrid approach to modernizing IT, independent software vendors (ISVs) are evolving their technology strategy to meet customers’ needs by making it easier to deploy and manage their solutions.
While AWS Outposts enables customers to easily scale their on-premises applications using AWS services and tools, integrating with customer-owned, third-party solutions for storage, security, analytics, and DevOps is important to ensuring positive customer outcomes.
Earlier this year, AWS launched the AWS Outposts Ready Program with 35 solution offerings across 32 AWS Technology Partners. This is part of the AWS Service Ready Program, which validates products built by AWS Technology Partners that integrate with specific services like AWS Outposts deployments.
Since our announcement, 25 AWS Partners have submitted applications for an additional 29 solution offerings. This signals customer demand for AWS Outposts-compatible solutions, and enthusiasm for the service across the AWS Partner community.
AWS Outposts Ready Partners in Action
AWS Outposts Ready Partners help customers meet their application latency, data processing, or residency objectives by eliminating the need to deploy or access their solution from an AWS Region.
In order to qualify, each AWS Partner’s product is tested on an AWS Outpost and validated against specific technical criteria. AWS Outposts Ready products are generally available and supported for customers, with clear deployment documentation.
Through this program, we confidently recommend AWS Partner solutions to customers based on technical validation by Partner Solutions Architects.
Here are a few examples of AWS Outposts Ready Partners in action:
- Pure Storage has validated FlashBlade with AWS Outposts, offering customers a low-latency, high-performance storage solution with simplified management and container capabilities, right from their own data center.
. - With their NetBackup solution, Veritas provides customers with a solution that protects their most complex workloads, whether it be in the cloud or on-premises.
. - Scylla’s Amazon DynamoDB-compatible API, Alternator, gives customers the ability to run DynamoDB workloads in their AWS account and directly on AWS Outposts using Scylla Cloud, a fully managed database-as-a-service. ScyllaDB enables customers to run Scylla Cloud in a multi-data center model, making it even easier to manage data, regardless of location.
. - Inductive Automation helps customers seamlessly connect, design, and deploy industrial applications. Their flagship product, Ignition, is a database-centric, cross-platform, web-deployed industrial application platform for HMI/SCADA. Its versatile and scalable network architecture gives customers flexibility to meet the needs of their industrial organization, whether that be from the AWS region, or on-premises.
